URGENT! Changes to Yahoo! Proforma Script May Cause Disruption...
Important Update regarding an e-mail you may have received from Yahoo! Small Business Merchant Solutions.
On Friday, January 25, 2008, all Yahoo! Small Business Merchants received an e-mail from Yahoo! Merchant Solutions regarding Pro-Forma. Our management team has met about the impact the updates will have on our client's stores and they are substantial. We want to help make this change as easy as possible, so we've assembled the following FAQ to assist you.
What is Pro-Forma? Yahoo! Merchant Solutions uses a form processing tool called "Pro-Forma," which is commonly used for mailing list signups, contact forms, and quote requests. When a visitor submits a form on a Merchant Solutions site, the "Pro-Forma" script processes it and emails you the results.
Why were updates to Pro-Forma needed? Until now, Pro-Forma did not require authentication to use. This means an unscrupulous spammer might attempt to 'hijack' your Pro-Forma installation and use it to process there own forms or send spam messages. No need to be alarmed though, your form submissions and customer data can't be compromised from this method.
The new update adds additional layers of authentication security to ensure that only those on an approved list may receive submitted form data. Any unauthenticated addresses will be seen as spam and be rejected.
